I had the great privilege of working with David when he launched CODAM around the same time I was starting School 21 back in 2018. Building schools from scratch is no small feat, and from the very beginning, David impressed me as one of the most knowledgeable and visionary leaders in the EdTech and educational innovation space.
Having been deeply involved at École 42 since its earliest days, David brought an exceptional understanding of the 42 model and its values to Codam. That strong foundation, combined with his leadership, helped Codam grow into a role model institution within the 42 network, a place where new ideas were tested with rigor, creativity flourished, and an incredible learning culture was built.
When we met again in 2019 at the Directors of the Network meeting, I could see how deeply David’s vision and integrity had shaped both the student experience and the school’s spirit. During those formative years, he was the first person I turned to whenever I faced a challenge, always offering valuable insights and genuine support.
David remains one of the key figures in EdTech I truly look up to, and I have no doubt that his leadership will continue to inspire and transform education globally.

I had the privilege of working with David from 2018 to 2024 as he led Codam through its early years and into a well-established institution. He brought the school’s vision to life and made diversity and inclusion a core part of its identity. What stood out most was his ability to genuinely connect with students, whether through his role as director, teaching, or simply being present and approachable.

David is a rare leader who combines vision with a real focus on people. His passion for education, combined with his high-level technical and pedagogical skills, was key to Codam’s success. It was a pleasure to work with him.

I would recommend him to any educational institution without hesitation, and any future student or team fortunate enough to work with him or his content will be in great hands.

I was David’s student at Epitech in 2008-2011. I was also a T.A. in several of his classes from 2009 on, namely the C++, compiler theory and OCaml/intro to functional programming classes.

I regarded David, and still do to this day, as one of the most competent professors I’ve ever had. As a student I found his lectures well-designed and his overall coursework interesting and challenging, but it’s as a T.A. that I really started to appreciate his work. I was lucky to be part of a major coursework redesign effort he was leading, changing how C++ and the basics of OOP would be taught to our third-year students.

I was very impressed by David’s approach to designing and teaching this new C++ course. He cared deeply both about building a clear and comprehensive course, but also making sure students of all levels would have a good time through it: students who had an easier time with the material were challenged with interesting stretch goals, and struggling students had access to optional lectures and workshops with alternative explanations and approaches of the notions at hand.

I also remember an important innovation of this year’s coursework, where students had to turn in assignments through the use of various source-control systems. This wasn’t a core goal of the class, but this was something the broader curriculum of the school was lacking at the time, and so David felt it was important to expose students to, at the time, newer VCS like Git and Mercurial.

I remember distinctly that for us T.A.’s David was by far the professor who cared about small details the most. But even then I knew this wasn’t idle pedantry, and the details he insisted on were all meaningful. I’m absolutely certain that this made a big difference for many of the students in these classes.

I was also lucky, later, to be invited to give some guest lectures at David’s later schools, 42, then Codam. At Codam I also witnessed how students approached the coursework, as I volunteered as a mentor several years in a row. I was happy to see that then like in my time, students I met were all very appreciative of David’s approach.

David was a great mentor and I admire the work he has been doing, shaping education for generations of students. I can’t recommend him enough.

Codam is Codam thanks to David.

David, you have given more then just students your expertise, passion and above all else pedagogy Innovation.

David was a strong figure at Epitech, known for his highly technical skills. He inspired all Epitech students to level up, to dig deep and become experts, but that’s not all: he cared, and a teacher who cares makes all the difference. I highly recommend David.

I had the pleasure of working with David Giron at 42 Paris, first as a fellow learner during the very first senior training program in 2016, and later over a longer period as part of the technical and pedagogical staff at 1337 within the 42 Network (he was based at CODAM at the time). I first met David back in 2021, while I was working for the pedago team at 42 Network, and he was the director of Codam. He contacted us because students were struggling to return to 42 after the COVID pandemic, falling behind, and eventually dropping out. This shows the first quality I would like to highlight from David: he listens. To the person in front of him, but also to the whole community. He quietly observes his students, empathizes with them, and has the courage to confront the problems. He was the first person to knock at our door and push us to start moving.

During the following months, we collaborated on redesigning the 42 curriculum and creating new projects. We also managed the operations to change a curriculum with 20,000 active students worldwide and communicated the “why” and the “how” to all involved stakeholders, including partner campuses, their staff, and the students. The results were exceptional: we delivered a quality product on time, and we met the objective of reducing the dropout and increasing motivation.

After that period, we have worked together on many other projects. My experience has always been more than positive. I am always surprised by his vision, his wisdom to ask the correct questions, his wide knowledge of education and technology, his ability to set up a plan that leads to concrete implementation, and, crucially, he knows how to involve the right people.

I would recommend working with David one and a thousand times. I will be pleased to give more reference of his work to anyone interested, but the main message is clear: you will not regret having him on board!!
